How about we take the political mumblings out of this thread and over to the FP thread where it's allowed.
Agree. How about we take the political mumblings out of this thread and over to the FP thread where it's allowed.
It's a good thing that you had witnesses, otherwise nobody would believe it!Back to snakes - Before I bougt my Mississippi lands where I encourage snakes keep rodent and feral cat populations low the largest snakes I routinely saw were in Fairfax county, VA. Usually ratsnakes. Had one slither up the outside of my door frame (standard height door) and stretch out t reach a bird nest which was on a branch on a tree. Darn thing must have been over 6' long. Wife refused to walk under it.
A few years later we had one about the same size climb a tall willow tree in our back yard, was scaring the heck out of 4 kids in our back yard. Wife dispatched me to "do something". So I climbed the tree carrying a D-handled 4 pronged Tru-Temper spading fork, thinking to dislodge it or scare it off. About 20' up I managed t dislodge it. It fell to the ground, I tossed the fork down. Darn if I didn't pin it to the ground between the fork blades, unharmed. So I nonchalantly walked over, picked it and the fork up and carried the snake to the nearby woods. Seemed to impress the kids. Surprised the heck out of me that I was able to not harm the snake when I tossed the fork.
There are good, useful snakes, as mentioned elsewhere on this thread. As for politicians... well, please don't insult the snakes.I could see how one might get snakes and politicians confused...
Anyway, I haven't seen any snakes as of late, but I'm a bit scared to take the hood off, I need to reach way in there to get the cowling bolts.
Also, I'm probably going to find a bunch of wasp nests. They are all over the place. I turn something over and bam, wasps.
Took one of the lights out of its little holder and there was a 4" wide wasp nest behind it !
Also, last year I stepped on a yellow jacket nest. That was an experience!

New meaning to coiled up...View attachment 5563783Here’s a water snake disguised as a spring on top of a spring on my son’s County plow truck, enjoying the sunshine. I don’t like snakes much, and I’d likely jump outa my shoes if I reached over to check that nut!!!![]()
Well, it is spring and it is on a spring waiting to spring. There might be tension if you encounter it unexpectedly.View attachment 5563783Here’s a water snake disguised as a spring on top of a spring on my son’s County plow truck, enjoying the sunshine.
