It is knd of funny that we onw a farm yet I have not found a place to plant a garden. For 2 years I ahve had a container garden. Now that we built a patio off the back of our house next year I will have an excellent convenient spot for a garden. I know myself well enough to know that any garden has to conveniently located near the house or I will loose interest.
I ahve grown various things in large pots but finally hit on something that is really growing well. I bought four different varieties of strawberries plants and plented all four in a bit pot. I never grew stawberries before so I was surpriesed when they sent out runners. Turns out I had attached a big piece of fencing behind the pots off of our sun porch and so I jsut picked upt he runenrs and have been threading the runners through the fencing. It is turneing out great! I wonder if the plants will die over the winters? I hope not and I think I have a good chance because of the glass wall behing the fencing. I think that should keep them warm enough over winter, I cna only home anyway.
Amazingly the runners on the fencing are now producing strawberries. Here are a couple pics. I bet it won't be long and I'll be out of fencing in which to weave the runners through.
