Here's my new 55hp baby. Just pulled her home on the PJ flatbed. She went to work right away. There were a few things around here that were bugging me. A gate that wouldn't open fully. A little washout. A water bar that I overdid last year with a rented 4T ex.
All fixed in 20 minutes. Back dragging works really well for a small tractor. Digging into a pile of dry Caliche (limestone) road base with the loader is of course tough. But with patience, and using the stronger cylinders, she did it.
If any of y'all are Midwest farmers, take heart. Things will get better. We're just finally fighting back at China. Meanwhile tractor prices are sagging and I got all this for $33k including the backhoe, an extra circuit up front, and all 4 tires Slimed.
Tomorrow, I figure out how to get more comfortable. I'm 6'6" but my legs are longer. I may just fold up some spare carpet and sit on it for now. My business is building gravel driveways, so most jobs I won't need a tractor. But when ya need one, renting is expensive.
Ersatz question, do any of you name your tractors? All our pickups and the dually van have names. Maybe I'll call her LiSa. Heh heh. My wife can say I'm spending too much time with LiSa.
