Hi all ... it's been a long time since I've posted here... guess I didn't feel I had much to say. But....
My new tractor is finally here! Yep, we now have 'his and hers' tractors! I got a 284 Jinma, direct from China. I couldn't be there to pick it up
because I couldn't get off work. So Rob (3RRL) picked it up and took it up to our camp with his son, Matt. He couldn't get it started (his Huge Kama starts differently), so they loaded it onto the trailer with a 'grade-all'.
When they got to camp, they then had to get it OFF the trailer... without the benefit of equipment. Huge Kama has been out of commission, and his parts are part of the shipment from China, so he was no help.
Once Rob and Matt disconnected the trailer from the truck, the trailer tongue sank, and the trailer tail end rose up in the air.... making it even harder to get the implements off the trailer. But Matt came to the rescue. As my son says 'it helps to have an ox in the family'. Matt put his back up against the tractor tire and planted his feet on the trailer floor and pushed. He managed to push it uphill (remember the trailer tail is up) about 6 inches, and Rob put a 2x4 behind the wheel to keep it from slipping back.
Unfortunately, the Jinma rolled right over that 2x4. So Matt pushed again, and Rob put a bigger block under it. Matt pushed again and managed another 6-12 inches. Little by little, Matt pushed that tractor uphill to the end of the trailer. In the meantime, the 2x4 that Rob had tried to use somehow got in the way, and for a while, Matt was trying to push the tractor not only uphill, but also up over the 2x4.
Anyway, they got it close, then used a chain and a winch to pull it all the way off the trailer.
I get to go this weekend and while Rob works on Huge Kama, I'll figure out my HoneyBee. (although, now that I see the cool flame on the side, next to the Jinma 284 logo, I may just change her name).
I'm pretty excited. All of Rob's pictures are on the PC at home, and I'm at work or I'd post several..... but I'll have plenty next week!
Wish me luck in learning to operate my very own tractor!
