Hi. I have to admit my ignorance here. How does it work?

the drum will rotate letting the sand pass through the side and the stones will paas out the back into a hopper.

there will be a scoop and conveyer belt at the front feeding the drum.

it will be driven off the pto.

when finished it will be about 20' long, 4' wide and 4' high.

its a smaller version of the one here.

Interesting gadget, I hope the construction goes well for you. Please post more pictures as your project advances.

chickenman:

is this something you intent to tow with tractor , lower to scoop the rock (near or above ground I assume?) and power raise after scooping the rock and rotate it and let rock rolle to the back into a low slung trailer? ok that is just my first thoughts, but I ****-u-me that it is for rocks of 10" or less across correct?

my version will pick up stones of 1/4" and bigger

comercial units all seem to do 1/2" or bigger

and they cost an arm and a leg

other than being large its realy a simple device

it will be towed behind a jd 4310

I live very close to a sod business and they have a couple of these that need a large tractor to run them. They have some of the bigger Deere's and NH's they use for these and for plowing the ground under come seeding time. I'll try and find one of them and get a picture if you like. They also have a large PTO water pump that needs at least a 100HP, it has I think a 10" suction line. Pretty impressive when there watering in the summertime.
