So it's not in my yard yet, but I'll be picking it up this coming Tuesday. But for now, here is the posting for it on Tractorhouse:http://www.tractorhouse.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=9755359

I ended up getting it for $8250 with the brush hog. I've been talking about getting into haying, and I know it's kinda small for that, but it's what I can afford at the moment. In theory with the loader and loaded tires it's heavier than a 9N, which pulls a JD24T alright. It has the same PTO HP as the 9N, so I'm hoping I can get away with that. If not, I can cut, ted, rake, and a friend of mine said he'd pull my baler.

Anyway, I'm pretty stoked, and can't wait to get her home! Overall it's in really good shape. Low hours, and regular services with one owner. The brush hog needs a little work, but that no skin off my back.

Cheers!

Chris

Thanks! I'll definitely post pics, and maybe a vid of it working on some berry bushed!

Well, I got her home today! Paid $8200 with the bush hog. It runs like a dream, and compared to the TZ24, it's a tank. I couldn't be happier! As a correction, in my original post I mentioned the PTO HP being the same as the 9N.. I meant 8N. I found this video of a 1720 pulling a Ford 532 baler, which has 1hp more than my 1715, and it seems to be cooking right along. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wQm36ad6Js This makes me feel pretty confident that I'll have no issues pulling a JD24T.

The bush hog needs some work. I'll need to add a plate where the gearbox mates to the shell, and patch some cracks, but otherwise it works well. I plan on making a canopy in the near future, and want to fill the tires. Upgrading the lights to LED's is also on the list. I plowed through some pretty thick blackberry bushes, and moved some dirt this afternoon. All and all, this seems to be a really solid little tractor.

Cheers!

Congrats, Mate. Ta for the pics.

Are you going to get hay spears?

I've got a combination FEL attachment of spears/forks... you simply swap the 'pointy bits' for the job at hand.

Thanks! We don't usually get round bales, so I probably wont get spears. My FEL can only lift maybe 1000lbs, so if I did, it would be for the three point. I do have a set of forks I got from work, that I plan to modify to clamp on the bucket.

Congrats! You're going to fall in love with that tractor :)

Yes, I'm totally in love with it. It's the perfect size for my 3 acres, and the jobs I have for it. So far I'm very impressed! It's great to have a compact utility that isn't built like the newer compacts. I kind of miss the HST, but I love the simplicity of the technology in this old boy.

In between all the happenings in life, I've managed to make some improvements, and get some work done on the property.

I also made a bunch of repairs to the brush hog, and worked the tar out of it today. It's truly amazing what you can accomplish with those things!

Hey neighbor, looks like you got a pretty good tractor there. A little damp for brush hogging today though wasn't it? :)

Congrats and enjoy your new tool!

Hey Chris, looks great! How many hours on it? The 1715 is the newer version of my 1710 which I have had for 20 years and have loved it. Even though I have my new JD 2520, I kept the 1710 because it has been such a great machine. I saw your In-Laws over here this weekend and got the tour of their cabin today. They should have fun with it. Brian needs a 2nd tractor now to have one over here to use. I told him he could use my 1710 if needed but he says that he will just pull his JD over as needed. Anyway, have a great time with it and keep us posted on how it is working for you. Top
