Hi folks,

I just inherited my grandfathers 3610 with bushhog 2400qt fel, 1 remote, brushhog, and a couple other implements (Finally a front end loader!) :) The tractor runs great and I plan on changing all the fluids ASAP. The only problem she has is a fuel leak at the top of the injector pump where the throttle lever is on top of the pump. It looks like its where the lever's shaft goes into the pump. It's a CAV pump, is anyone familiar with these pumps? Is that a relatively easy repair, or should I bring it to the inj pump shop? Thanks for any help.
Oh I almost forgot the picture! She's only got 1600 hrs :) btw, nice to have a good reason to visit the Ford forums now!

I found some info on the inj pump leak. I googled it and found a pretty good description on another forum, seems like the throttle shaft is a common leak. Looks like there are 2 seals on the shaft and also the fuel cutoff shaft, plus a gasket for the cover. It mentions being careful when removing the cover as there's a spring with several different holes it can be mounted to. I normally wouldn't attempt inj pump repair but this one seems straightforward enough. Parts should only be a few bux. I guess I'll update when I get around to it. I also need to fill the rears for traction, off to research that. :)

Dntfxr, it is not a real difficult repair if you are a decent mechanic. As you found, change the 2 orings on the throttle and shut-off shafts, the cover gasket and the 2 fiber washers under the cover nuts.
The part you have to be careful about is under the cover is a large spring connected to a pin with a small spring. You need to note which hole (usually the middle hole) the pin goes through the plate so you get it back together correctly. BE CAREFUL REMOVING THE SPRING FROM THE PIN AS THE SMALL SPRING WILL FLY OFF AND IS EASILY LOST! Diesel will spill out when you open the cover, so be prepared and shut off the fuel at the tank before starting. When you assemble the cover, the shut-off rod/plate that lays on the body of the pump needs to line up with the shut-off pin AND stay inside the cover edge. The cover is aluminum, so don't force anything and wiggle the cover before finally tightening it to be sure the plate is inside the cover. Bleed the filter and pump before starting.
Of course, cleanliness is paramount to a fuel pump repair, so make sure all dirt is removed on the pump and around the area of the pump. Do not spray a warm/hot injection pump with water as it will destroy it.
Be patient and have fun.

Gemplers or Napa has a tire waterer adapter to fill the rear tires with 75-80% water. Position the tire with valve stem at top, let the air out, put water in and repeat a 2nd time until filled with proper amount of water.

Wow how'd I miss this reply!? Thanks TractorTech, I really appreciate the walk through and vote of confidence! I haven't found the time to tackle it yet but I'll update when I finally do (probably another 2 weeks from now). I really love having a loader, never knew what I was missing! :)
