Took this yesterday. Next door neighbor laying plastic mulch. He had it all done about a month ago, then it hailed and punched holes in his plastic. tore it all up and burnt it and is now re-laying it. Its a family affair.
Anyone else notice that the one guy standing on the back of the plastic laying machine is bare-footed. It appears that the others have on shoes.

Nice pic. It's possible the 3 horse power will also fertilize at times.:laughing:

I've lived around Mennonites and Amish much of my life. Great people. I love how they adapt new ideas - like plastic mulch - to old methods, like horse drawn implements.
That's not my experiance. The amish around these parts will steal anything not nailed down, think what's yours is theirs, stink to high heaven and are just plain rude. I have no use for them.![]()
Great photo.
I got to thinking...I always hear good, reasonable things about the Amish and Mennonites. When a killer tornado hit Jarrell several years ago, the Mennonites showed up early and stayed late, helping in many real ways with their sweat, tools and know how, for months,...very self sufficient, genuine.
On the other hand, I never hear about other sects such as Warren Jeffs or Branch Davidians until they make the news...and not in a good way.
Guess it's all in the leadership.
You would be amazed at how tough your feet get if you go barefoot all the time. In South Africa I saw kids running barefoot on the crushed stone beside the highway. I can't even walk on rough concrete without boots on.
