Hi my smallest tractor a B1700 HST bought new in 1999, just 450 hours, has developed a nasty noise. In Hi only, 2 or 4 WD, There is an intermittent racket which sounds like a small airhorn. This tends to happen most often under little load on the level. Certainly when there is some engine breaking. It is not steering related. Closer inspection revealed a very loose prop shaft which looks like a big job to remove. I also suspected the hydraulic oil, and have changed filters, but cannot find SUDT here in France. Worse still the tractor shares some implements with a brand new L5740 which has separate HST & hydraulic systems, and therefore perhaps different oils in each.
I am worried about cross contamination, and what to use in place of SUDT (The French only sell "Huile hydraulic R45"). I would like to know of a diagnosed racket in other B1700HSTs.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.....
