I have a older L120 20-HP Brig. & Stratton every 15 to 20 minutes of cutting it shuts off go dead. I get off and pour gas down in the cooperator and it starts back up. Run again 15 to 20 minutes and it ***** off again. Do I need to change my fuel pump or the fuel filter???? Also why my cutting blades(The edge cutting system) stalls at times and pick back up with speed????? I put a bigger hole in the fuel tank cap, but it did not stop the cutting off.

I'd look at debris plugging up the fuel system, beginning at the fuel tank. Sounds like fuel starved. A nuisance for sure, but wouldn't change out the fuel pump right off the get-go. Track it down and know you have good flow through the fuel lines first.

Assume "cooperator" is the carburetor. ;)

Dj - have you looked under the fan shroud? Could be that you have a mouse nest in there that is causing the engine to overheat and thus causing it to stall.

Definitely check for fuel blockage. Look at replacing your in line fuel filter.

Check vent on fuel cap.
