I have plenty of info, but not about that! Seriously, I just wanted to say: Congratulations! I hope you have your camera ready to take some pics of the delivery. Any camera will do, you can get them scanned to a disk for posting if you don't have a digital camera. ENJOY! John

Yes, I remember the day of delivery. Up early, every time you here something outside you look. Congratulations on the tractor. I can't help with the other.

Just out of curiousity, I did a model search on the Deere online Parts Catalogue ( Link ). Just click on the Model link and enter "380".

It lists the 380 blade for the 655/755/855 and 955 tractors. It lists the 380A for the 670/770 tractors (770 is the immediate predecessor to the 790). It appears that the blade is the same, but the frame mounting components are different. So, if you just buy the blade (and hydraulic components!!!!), you should be able to get the mounting components from your Deere dealer.

Now, it might be costly...it'll depend upon your intended use. If it's for snow removal, a rear blade might be considerably cheaper and still let you use the loader (I assume you got the FEL?). If you've a long drive or large area to clear, a rear mount blower might be a better option.

There is also a blade that mounts to the 419 loader, but I think it's a manual adjust type. As mentioned, depends what you want to use it for.

BTW, I own a 790. I think you'll find it to be a nice machine for a smaller (5 to 8 acres or so) lot or farmette. Pretty tough machine, as was my 670 (which was traded for the 790).

Good luck!

You're lucky -- I couldn't be home (I'm a company man) that Saturday and had to let my wife accept delivery. Talk about wanting to get home! I really wanted a 790; that machine is obviously well built and the engine sounds great -- smooth and strong. When I shopped, the dealer told me he had to check the dealer network to see if he could find one; the one I test drove was sold. After 2 weeks I still hadn't gotten a call so I continued shopping brands etc. (I'm a firm believer that salespeople should earn their money). I found and bought a Kubota L2800. His loss. Best of luck with your new machine!

Thanks for all comments!! I felt like a kid again, I seemed it took forever for the guy to unload. My hats off to Proven Power [wisconsin] for the fantastic price and not charging me for the block heater which I assumed I was going to get charged, They even brought gas and filled the tank. Great service!

Hey Roy, thanks for the info!!!

You are quite welcome. I did collect all that information (on the 380A Blade) and put it in an Adobe file. If you put your e-mail address in your profile, I'll send it to you.

"They even brought gas and filled the tank."

Desiel fuel, man, Desiel fuel!! Don't be putting any gas in that tank!!

I went through the same routine just this morning. My new JD 990 4wd was delivered about 10:00am. I found an excuse to take the day off and put in 5 hours of seat time brush hogging with the new 6-foot Deere LX6 rotary mower. I also used the Deere FEL to fill potholes that were emerging on my half-mile driveway. The 790/990 machines are all business!

This is only my second tractor. My first was a compact, 2wd, 28hp gasoline tractor (Satoh) that I loved. It did everything I asked of it. The extra size, stance, and power of the 990, though, has already translated into much greater stability. Areas I used to cut up and downhill, I can cut sidehill without any "tippiness." Big difference, too, between 40hp and a 6-foot rotary versus 28hp and a 4-foot rotary cutter. I'm wondering, though, how I got along before without a FEL? I'll stop. This sure is fun, though. Congratulations on your JD790!
