Moistiure barrier, Cedar corner boards and cedar siding is on, windows and door are in. Bought 650 sq feet of cedar siding, had less than a course left over. I'll use that on the privy.
Built a retaining wall two weekends ago, you can see it in the bottom pic. That front end loader and post hole auger made the job alot easier! Used a very nice red cedar for the uprights and 16' pressure treated 4x4 for the wall.
Still need a metal roof and deck railing then the outside will be 97% complete. Inside is still studs and subfloor w/no insulation. Floor space is 320 sq feet w/8x8 loft.
Deck is 6 ft on the front and 5 on the side.
Siding is solid stained, wife says its "poop" brown, but the price was right and it blends well with the woods. Hopefully it lasts awhile. I'll paint the drip edges and trim white after they dry out a bit. Pressue treated lumber is still wet when new.
Notice the third story deck. It'll overlook a pond eventually, but my little 16" BH bucket isn't up to the task! Need to rent a dozer w/operator for that task. I think it looks pretty dern cozy. What say ya'll?
btw, its 2 miles off the paved road sitting on 25 acres of NC bottomland, 12 acres of that borders State game lands.

Afternoon Slacker,
Looks pretty cozy to me also ! Nice job !

Are those block supports mortared together ? I have seen people just stack block which IMHO is a rescipe for disaster. Although down your way I dont imagine you have to worry about too much in the way of frost.

Nice place ! Nice and quiet :)

Thanks for the compliments fellas! Scott_vt, Yes the blocks are mortered together, with rebar inside them, then filled with portland. The footers are 36x24 into very solid sandrock. No worries about them giong anywhere.
Frost isn't an issue down this way, but in 20 years....who knows!

Great looking cabin!!!

How are you going to finish off the inside? Any chance that you have a floorplan? or is it all one room? Is thre a kitchen area or bathroom?

I've been fine tuning my cabin plans for awhile now and have it down to 16 feet wide, 33 feet deep with the a living room in the front, kitchen and bathroom in the middle and a bedroom in the back. 528 sq ft. I'd like to get it down some more, but I've hit the wall on what it needs to have and what how tite I can squeeze everything.

Thanks for sharing the pictures,
Eddie

Here is the plan I used to get started. My cabin is 320 sq feet, smaller than the plan, but its a rough idea of what I envisioned. I gave up both downstairs bedrooms, I only need a sleeping loft.
With the space I gained I want closets, shelves and cabinets...plus a nice woodstove. My poker table will take up a corner close to the stove. ;-)

I've seen that plan in my searches and considered it for a bit, but like you, didn't want all those bedrooms. It sounds like you're going to have a very cozy and comfortable space to relax out of the weather. That porch will really make the nice days something special!!!!

Keep us posted on your progress. I'm looking foreward to seeing how you finish off the interior.

Thanks,
Eddie

Ditto. My first house was a small A-frame with an open upstairs sleeping loft. Even with a ceiling fan over the living area, the woodstove near cooked you to death up there. Hated to do it because it took away from that open feeling, but I ended up walling off the end. It was either that or rent it out as a dry sauna! You might want to devise some type of repositionable or accordian-style end wall system on rails so you can open/close it off as needed?
