I had the third valve already installed on my JD 4300 for a 4 in 1 bucket and it provided rear hydraulic outlets. I thought that that the rear outlets could be used for a T-N-T operation so I first got a top cylinder from Green Manufacturing. I added a couple bushings and some hoses and it worked great.
I then ordered a cylinder from Prince (Surplus store) Model SAE 8404 for $35.00. I took that cylinder and removed the rod clevis and made an adapter by welding a 1" nut to some flat steel and bent it to fit. The other end I made a pin and swivel out of some 3/4" ID thick wall pipe I had. I welded two pieces together at 90 deg. I did not want to cut or weld on the cylinder itself until I knew it would work. I added hoses and fitting it worked great. I left the adjustable link on the tractor to give a extra tilt if needed but I still have the same adjustment as before with the cylinder. It works great for about $65.00
After all this I decided that since I had only one control outlet at the back and the Top link worked fine and the Tilt worked fine, but I had to switch lines to use the one I wanted. I looked at Princedirect and found a "loader valve with joystick" for $140.00. I could use it but I needed a "Power Beyond Kit" on the tractor to get it to work right and give me the extra outlets I wanted. I ordered PB via "jdparts.com" and installed it myself. Not really hard since most of the brackets, etc. were installed with the third valve. Just a couple pipes and some fittings.
I made a bracket for the valve to mount to the existing holes on the ROPS and did the plumbing for a Pressure in, Tank, and Power Beyond from the valve. I made another plate to hold the connectors for the outlets from the valve. This gave me two extra hydraulic controls at the back of the tractor plus the Power beyond allowed the use of the rockshaft. The whole thing was done without any new holes having to be drilled in the tractor, and no functions disabled. I addition the entire valve and extra outlets are easily removable in about five minutes.
I like it better and it cost a lot less than the JD system. Check out the pictures.
My next project is a power angle on my back blade.
