My dealer doesn't even sell synthetic!

Stopped in at the dealer today. My 3320 has ~40 hrs on it. I thought I'd jump into JD synthetic motor oil. Their service guy doesn't advise using it, and they don't even have it on the shelf. I went ahead and picked up their 15w-40 to throw in at 50 hrs, but I'm thinking there is two ways to look at it. One is that synthetic really doesn't gain any life out of a yanmar diesel. Or what I think the most likely reason is if everyone used synthetic oil, they would have less service work down the road. I'll be switching to JD fully synthetic at 100hrs. Is this prevelant among dealers out there?

I suspect JD doesn't have a synthetic oil/brand and I have not seen any on our dealers shelves. Therefore, how can they recommend something they don't have? I put full synthetic Penzoil ultra blue premium rated at CJ-4 in my JD 3720 at fifty hours.

I've never used it and probably never will but they do have it.

Oil and Lubricants : Plus-50, 0W-40

When I asked my dealer about it he said it was Deere's best oil. I use it because I only want to change the oil once a year and the tractors operates in temps from -10 to 100 but I only put a hundred hours on each one per year.

Learned something new. Didn't know JD had a synthetic engine oil.

Just bought some today at my dealer. Not sure if it is better, but they highly recommended it.

I use mobil one in my 89 305 camaro, and have since 30k it's got 130k now(it's for sale) runs like a new engine. I know it's no diesel, however an internal combustion engine is a.... makes sense that oil that doesn't break down would be better than something that will... now having said this.. if you change oil regularlly it would be a small help, I will be using it in other engines maybe the tractor too.. I'll make up my mind next lof...
