OK, I really had two days off this week. Tuesday I went to the Farm Progress Show. Most impressive but primarily larger ag stuff. Plenty of compacts and implements but my interests were in the big boys. Unfortunately, I failed to take a camera with me.

Today though, I got a rare day off at home. Wife went on a field trip with the older son so I stayed home with the younger one. We had fun and got several things done. This shot shows six yards of topsoil we had delivered to finalize the grade around our porch. We spent the morning moving and raking it. Finally ready for some plants /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Our second task for the day (after lunch out together /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif ) was to put wood chips around the swingset. We bordered it with landscape timbers the other weekend so all we needed was the remaining fabric and the chips. Got four yards in the truck but had to unload by hand. The dump truck that brought the topsoil earlier would have come in handy about now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Couldn't you just lift the front of your truck with the FEL? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You need to get on my schedule (9-80) I work 80 hours in 9 days resulting in every other friday off. I really like them during the school year when the wife is at work (teacher). I can get all my errands & "chores" done /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you anticipate much more of this stuff, check out the loadhandler for your PU. Makes that sort of task go pretty easily. For example, I hauled over 60 loads of horse manure in my Chevy 1/2 ton for compost piles this summer. Loaded the truck with the FEL, cranked the loadhandler to unload it. Check out the thread "What I did last summer - never again" for my pond project. Used the loadhandler there too but I have to admit, it and the truck were really undersized for that project. Here's a link: www.loadhandler.com.

Ditto on the Loadhandler. I've hauled max capacity of gravel, dirt, topsoil, and mulch in my Ram 1500 and it cranks out easy-as-you-please.
I was skeptical when I bought it - couldn't believe you could just turn the crank and have 1600 lbs slide out of the truck but it really works!

Oh yeah, and a 1500 lb pallet of stone.

Seems like a big dump truck could haul more dirt!! When you start to spread it out, you say man that is not enough i need at least 5 more loads..
