I did the 50 hour on my 3510 Branson. I went with dealer filters, some people on the board had issues with off brand. Went with Castrol deisel oil, I've always had good service from Castrol. Also went with Texaco TDH Trans Oil. I have an account with local Cheveron/ Texaco distributor. I tried to cross Trans oil at NAPA and they couldn't match it to the off brand they carry. It was saturday so I didn't want to wait until today for the distributor. Had to anyway. Also read here that 50 hour didn't need Trans oil changed but owners manual says to do it. Better safe than sorry! The trans fluid looked/smelled OK but the front axle fluid had fine brass particles in it. (non magnetic) I will use the old fluid in other equipment that leaks anyway.
I put the rear of the tractor up on a set of auto ramps (7000 lb cap) and could easily get 5 gal buckets under it to drain the trans. I didn't see the trans drain plug (front just under the driveshaft) until after I removed the screen cover. It would have been easier to use it. You can also stick your finger in the drain hole to stop the oil when changing buckets. Washed the screen off and blew it off with air. Washing didn't get fine particles off of screen you really need air.
Over all it's not too bad of a job if you are debating doing it yourself. Just have what you need before you start. I didn't have the Trans oil and I found out if you drain it out and try to move the tractor the steering dosen't work. They have different pumps but same reserviour.
