Well as luck would have it, I had a flat on my other 594 rake so I had to put this one into service before I was quite ready so it is only about 90% done, but thought you might enjoy anyway.
This rake is somewhere between a 1937-1944 so it is a little older than my other rake. I actually bought it at the "moving off the farm auction" of 90 year old friend of my MIL who happens to be 78 herself. The 90 year old's dad bought it new so I am kinda the 2nd-3rd owner however you want to count it.
Overall this rake is in really good shape with only minimal wear and the usual broken tines which I have replaced. It was really taken care of and I do not think it had been used for a few decades. That said, I hate the old grade #2 square head bolts and nuts so I replaced them all with grade #5 hex heads for dependability and fabricated a few new bushings where needed. The original lock washers were disintegarting from rust and fatigue anyway so it had to be done.
I must say this is one good rake as it runs almost silently campared to my other one.
I will try to update the thread with action shots as I plan to use it again later today. Also, I will add final completed pictures when I get the front two wheels wire brushed, scraped and painted. Also, I need to do the same with the lower gearbox oil pan. Short of this - it is complete.
