So I was visiting the neighbors today and spied this tiller in his backyard, probably been sitting since 2004, a 1998 model 6 foot Muratori MZ 6, I have no idea what's it's worth. Has a slip clutch, tines in decent shape 80% there, missing 2. Looks like it has an oil reservoir on the chain side too... Not a lot of wear on it for it's age really. Tomorrow I am going to go hook up to it and check it out. He bought it from another neighbor who was the original owner, and they took good care of their stuff, my neighbors the one who left it outside to rust and fade a bit. He never used it. Can't find diddly on prices for this thing. New ones similar seem to be in the $1500-2000 range. Any ideas price wise? And I assume my 40hp tractor will not have a problem...I don't think. It's a lot heavier duty than the 5' Bush Hog I have.

Ok, dug a bit more, is an MZ6-185, new ones are 2-3k, and from what I see require 45-50hp tractor. I am 5 hp short, will it matter? Weight is 660 lbs.

Well it certainly wont hurt your tractor.
The tiller may not be as functional as with a higher HP tractor, but I bet it will work with the right PTO shaft just fine. That shaft looks weird - Oh I see now it's broken :)
I'd use it if I were you.

I used to run a 5 foot tiller on a ford jubilee and that's only somewhere in the 20HP range, so you should be fine with 40.

One thing I did notice, the slip clutch is on the tractor end and not the tiller end. I had an old Celli tiller and it had the clutch on the tiller end. In wonder why the difference.

Got it hooked up today, I did switch the slip clutch around, did some reading on here and that's the way it is supposed to work. Hammered loose the clutch plates...cut a couple inches off the drive shaft to make it fit... The locking pin/keys were all rusted...heat and WD-40 and got them working. 45 min later I had it going. I like it, it cuts deeper easier, the larger tines and extra weight are a big plus.

I'm glad it is working out for you. I don't know what we ever did without a tiller when I was younger all we had were a plow and a disk. A tiller is so much better it's not even funny. They don't go as deep as a plow but they do really churn up the earth.

I believe the safer practice is to put the slip clutch on the tiller end where you'll be much less likely to get into it when the PTO is turning. If on the tractor end it might extend the PTO U-joint past the safety shield.
