I looking to put new tires and rims on my mule for higher ground clearance. Has any one done this? Or is there another option to give me more ground clearance?
For my '07 Mule 610 I bought a set of 12" diameter x 7" wide ITP steel wheels & Carlisle AT 489 tires (25x8-12 fronts & 25x10-12 rears). However, I didn't realize when I bought those tires that they are a low-pressure (7 psi max) floatation tire that calls for bead-lock rims. I installed them anyway, & they worked fine, just too soft for the kind of loads I put on them with a ~1,000-pound Mule loaded with 4 or 5 people, a plywood roof structure, a subwoofer & amp, & wood-framed rear seat unit
So ... I'm in the process of swapping the tires for Carlisle All Trail tires (25x8-12 fronts & 25x10.5-12 rears). These are made for hard surfaces & have a max tire pressure of 20 or 22 psi, & have a much higher load capacity. I should've bought these from the start. I've already got the rears on, & it rides much better with them. Should have the fronts done tonight or tomorrow.
I also bought stiffer springs & a lift kit for it, but I only installed them in the suspension - I only got them to offset them weight of 2 people sitting on the rear bed seats.
There are quite a few websites that sell lift kits & wheels/ tires for Mules: motoxmall.com, moto4less.com, sidebysidesports.com/kawasaki-mule.html & many others
Here's a thorough story with pics from a guy who did many mods to his 610 & lifted it:
2" Lift Kit for Kawasaki Mule 610.
Here's his:
Unfortunately the only pic I have of mine has the original wheels/ tires on it; I'm not even sure I have the lift kits & springs in the rear, yet in this pic, but hack it's a pic nonetheless!:
