Mulching Blades For B2620

I recently bought a B2620 with a 54 inch deck.I read reviews on this setup and a lot of people mentioned that the clippings from the mower were quite long which is what I found.I figured mulching blades would help even if I wasn't using a mulching kit.When I called the dealer he said Kubota did not offer a mulching kit or mulching blades for this deck.He did have a new set of mulching blades for a 54 inch fine cut deck off a BX tractor.These blades looked to match up in length,width, and thickness but the hole in the center was too small.I bought these blades and took them home.I tried drilling out the holes but the steel in the blades was too hard for HSS drill bits.I was able to get the holes machined out no problem.I have to say with the mulching blades the deck gives a cleaner cut with finer clippings.I will definitely be using these blades from now on.

That's interesting, kcender. I saved a set of regular BX blades (60 inch deck), thinking they would work on my B2620. Yeah,,,,,,,,the hole is too small. Where does one get the hole "machined"? A whole set of new blades is $54 with a $10 rebate right now. Machining might cost about that much. Cheers, Mike

I got mine machined at work,paying for it would probably cost as much as the blades.

Do you have any photos of the blades? Old vs. New would be awesome. I'm curious what is so different about them.

Are you satisfied with mower performance? I'm interested in similar tractor.

I am satisfied with the mower performance now that I have the mulching blades on it.With the straight blades the cut was alright but not as good as the 54 inch fine cut deck I used when I had the BX2360.Now I would say the quality is the same.Hard to get pictures without taking a blade off but the mulching blades have a twist in them that allows for two levels of cutting on each blade.The original blades are just straight.Hope this helps.

I have a Deines ZT mower with a 60" deck and I have installed Meg-Mo Systems - Lawn Mower Blades, Replacement Mower Blades, Sharpen Lawn Mower Blades, Mulch Grass blades. I am going to buy the same blades for my 60" Kubota mower.

Great question! The main cutting blade is no different then the OEM blade and would easily be sharpened using standard methods. The mulching "wings" might be a different story. I'll let you know when I have to sharpen them. :laughing: Looks like I could just use an angle grinder with a thin blade to touch up the wings though. I will be mowing tonight so can report how I think they are different from the OEM blades.
