E-Max 22
I was moving some dirt with my E=Max 22. I noticed a noise. I parked the tractor and opened the hood and took of the side panel. The tail pipe holder was broke. The dealer has the part on order and not under warranty. Today looking at the tractor I noticed that the muffler was cracked at the rear of the muffler. This poor design has been changed by Mahindra. I will find out tomorrow if this $500 part is going to be warranted.
I bought this tractor new 10/05/2015 It has 51 hours on it.

Why not a muffler shop and skip the $500 part? Mufflers and exhausts crack and break regularly and the parts aren’t $500- that’s steep!
Hoping for a cheaper fix.....

Did the crack occur due to the support bracket breaking? If they won't warranty it, I would stop drill the crack and weld over it, preferably with 308 and TIG, but any process should work and save it.
If they won't warranty the bracket, I'd just fix it, and add some reinforcement to it rather than replace it with the same substandard part.

My LS broke its muffler too and they did warranty it, though it was on the initial 2 year bumper to bumper. Would they if it was under the 6 year powertrain? I dunno. No way I'd give the 5 big ones for a muffler myself.

I'd break out the welder and weld it up. Once the bracket is fixed it'll probably go for years. Not like it's stainless or anything.

That muffler should be warranty. Its a known issue. Should fall under the 3 year emission warranty. Ask your dealer to get the DSM involved.

I have the same problem with my Mahindra EMAX22 Gear. It is only 6 months past the 2 year bumper to bumper warranty and only 150 hours. It is obviously a manufacturer defect because they have replaced the muffler with a reinforced version. I have a call into my dealer. They are trying to get Mahindra to pay for it. I'm not paying $500 bucks if they don't. I'll weld it. Does anyone have pictures of the reinforced one so I will know how to weld it to last? Thank you for the help. Barry

It is a design flaw that TYM has changed. A lot of EMAX tractors and TYM’s had this issue. My opinion is it should be covered because it is a known design flaw, but they will probably deny it for warranty terms. I would take it to a welder and have them repair it and make it better.

I’d take the flange off and the muffler itself off. Bring both down to a muffler shop. They can make a slip fitting for that spot and give you a clamp. I’d say it’s a $50-$75 fix if the muffler shop is able to reuse the old muffler.
Sucks it happened but overall not a tough fix.

Can anyone take a picture of the mufflers? Whats the difference between the two styles?
