Dame Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg -- 1938 - 2020


"Actor Diana Rigg, best known for starring in the 1960s British TV espionage thriller The Avengers, died on Thursday at the age of 82 in London. According to a statement from her daughter Rachael Stirling, she was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.


"My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family," Stirling wrote. "She died of cancer diagnosed in March, and spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession.""

As a child in the 80's I watched "Masterpiece Theater" on PBS, with the shows introduced by a seemingly ancient Diana Rigg, whom I never paid much attention to. Then as a teenager I saw the Bond movie where she married Bond, and was blown away!

It was one of my favorite shows when I was a teenager. She was part of the attraction, the show itself was British TV surreal weird. Some of the situations they found themselves in were hilarious, one of the more memorable scenes was the toy store in the picturesque village where all the toys concealed guns....

My fondest memories of her are in the black leather outfits that were her mainstay in 'The Avengers'...
