Recently purchased 5 acres and building a home (4 acres mowable 1 acre woods). Wife recommended I buy tractor with FEL and BH. 99% sure it is going to be a BX 22 with 60" MMM. Does any one use one of these mowers? What quality of cut do you get? How long would you expect it to take to mow 4 acres. Property is flat.
Welcome to TBN. You will find many of us here that use the BX and the 60"MMM. The quality of cut is excellent, better than you have the right to expect, given the utility and versatality of the tractor. As far as time goes, it hard to say, but if you don't have mant trees, etc. you should be able to comfortably do your mowing in 2.5 hours.

I've been using the 60" MMM for over three years now. (This will be the fourth season) The first two and most of the third year was with a BX-2200 and now I use it with my BX-22. The mower does an excellent job and provides a lot of manuverability around objects...I do almost no trimming after a cut, including a whole bunch of trees that are in the main part of the lawn.
Nope, never heard of one /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif-----dude!, this is the Kubota tractor forum and there may be more BX owners here than anything else, there is a bunch anyway and of course there are many threads that a little research will provide oodles of info on.
I don't know what tractor you need, big or little, green or orange, I just know the BX is a mighty machine and one very nice lawn mower when equipped with the 60MMM that very few machines can compare to.

I use the 60" mower on my BX2200 to cut 8+ acres at my moms house. I can cut it all in about 4 hours and have very little cleanup afterwards. The cut is exceptional and can really handle some tall wet grass with out bogging down. Its a great choice if you choose to go that route.
I have roughly the same mowing scenerio as you. It takes me about 2.3 hours to mow about 4 acres with obstacles to mow around. If you are indecisive , you will not reget the quality and utility of the BX 2200. My back yard looks like a fairway when finished. One fine mowin' machine.
It's all true. This will be my 3rd season with a BX and the 60"mmm. What a beautiful, even cut and very little vibration. Professional quality! Do yourself a FAVOR and buy one, you'll be convinced, I promise.
The 60" deck is good, but the cut is not as fine as say my 48" Cub Cadet that I had previously. I have a number of off-camber small dips and peaks on my property (2 acres to mow) and if I had to buy a deck today for my BX22, I'd probably opt for the 54" deck as it will tend to scalp a bit less when encountering the terrain variations.
My experience was the deck was NOT adjusted at all when I my unit was new. Take the time to set it up according to the manual. There are a number of adjustments to make and you have to do them all to get a good even deck. Don't run the wheels on ground.....if you do, you'll burn the centers right out of them. They are there for anti-scalp only, not to run on the ground the entire time.
If you get the BX22, consider smaller backhoe bucket. I went that route and it actually gives me more digging power as it takes a wee bit smaller bite in surface area.
