MOWING - Hustler Z Diesel (SHIBAURA) QUESTION

Hoping I'll get a quicker response here ... I have a Hustler Z Diesel with the 25 horse 3cyl Shibaura 1.7L diesel ...(I believe) same diesel as in the Ford / NH / Tier4 LS tractors.

Unfortunately I bought this mower used, so I don't have the owners & engine manual. I'm trying to cross-reference all my filters so I can service it tomorrow. I've downloaded the owners & service manuals for the mower, but it says to refer to the "Engine Service Manual" for the engine, and I can't find that anywhere.

So, does anyone know the oil filter part number, and/or aftermarket filters that will work? Is there a specific oil weight that is recommended for this engine? What is the oil capacity?

Also, same goes for the hydraulic & fuel filters as well.

Side question: Does anyone have a preference for blades? Should I stick with the standard blades, or go with a "hi-lift" or even "gator" mulching blades? I'm due for a sharpen anyhow, and the blades are pretty beat up.

While not many guys over at Lawnsite run the diesel SZ, plenty run Hustlers and may help you out. Your engine is 1.13L according to Hustlers specs-

"Manufacturer Shibaura
HP 25HP - Shibaura
Displacement 1,131cc"

The owners manual says to use SAE20W-50 SL/SM motor oil for the hydro's (which are Hydro gear pumps and Parker TG0335 wheel motors) (section 4-2)

My 2012 sales brochure says (on page 33 of that issue) that the SZ diesel takes 5.1 quarts of oil for the engine. To use # 2 diesel.

If you use gator blades, don't waste your time with anything other than the Oregon G6 blades. Most guys who run the SZ's use the std high lift blades for either the older XR7 deck or the newer VX4. Do you know which is on this one? If it is a pre '11 it will be the XR7 I believe.

I've got the XR-7 deck. I don't think my local hustler dealer carries all the filters for the diesel, he may have to order them. Do you know of any aftermarket filters that would work?
