I just got through with the first brush hogging of my front 12 acres since my tank was dug last August. The tank is about 1.5 acres, but with all the rain quite a bit of grass and weeds are flooded and I can't get in there to mow it. So while the place otherwise looks good, around the tank is about 12" of grass and weeds I can't get to.

Does anybody know a good way to get at this stuff - some of it in 6 inches of water? I have been on the DR Trimmer webpage but I can't tell if one of those contraptions could get in there or not.

Alan -

I've had my 6hp DR Trimmer/Mower out several times the last month or two, cutting tall, wet weeds in muddy conditions. The wet cuttings make quite a mess, but the machine doesn't hesitate to whack 'em down.

Now, when I say "muddy", I just mean an inch or so of gooey turf, not 6 inches of water! /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif These cutters expect you to keep the mower ball on the ground, which in your case would make it submerged. I also have my doubts that you could push the wheels through that kind of swamp. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Let's hope the truly clever folks on this board have some better ideas. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Alan, like Harv, I use my DR in "wet" conditions at times, but never tried it in more than an inch of so of water, and don't think it would be very good for more than that.

Being basically from the backwoods of Michigan, I guess I don't really know what you mean when you talk about a tank. I'm guessing it's some kind of pond or water collection area, but that's nothing more than a guess. Is it something common to Texas or the Southwest?

Bob, when I was growing up in Texas and Oklahoma there weren't any "ponds." That was something you read about in the story books. But every farm had a tank; had to have a place for the livestock to drink, and maybe catch a fish or shoot duck occasionally./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Bird,

Any "real man" (presumably ALL Texans /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif ) knows that a "tank" is an armored/trackedweapons-carrying military vehicle.

I'd say more about it, but I have to go fill-up the gas-pond in my truck.

Larry, last night I watched that old movie "The Battle of the Bulge" again and I noticed that was what they were calling those contraptions./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Down here a pond is a little bitty puddle in your back yard where you have goldfish and lilly pads.
