May be a simple question.....looking a putting a belly mower on the BX25, any thoughts on the difference between the 60" and 54" cut???? I'm thinking the 54" just because tractor will fit on my trailer with the 54" deck. Is there a mulch kit for these mower decks??? I will have the dealer install. What kind of price range should I be expecting?

There are two 54" models 2 choose from, the regular one and the fine cut one.

I have a 54" MMM on my BX23...Mostly because it's what came with it...For my purposes it works very well...If anything, you have to remember the discharge chute sticking out when going in "close" to things such as trees, fences, etc. Good luck.

I have a 60"mmm on BX24 and I noticed with it is if youre ground is not pretty level you might give the grass a very tight cut . But after a while it becomes level.

All I know is that I went from a MTD 42" inch cut to my BX 60" inch cut and it is awesome. I can do my lawn in half the time.

Where will you use it? To me, the deciding factor is which fits your use better. 60" will cut faster but 54" might fit tighter spots or deal with less level ground a little better. I went with 54" for rational and irrational reasons. The rational was that I have a number of smaller paths between beds that the 60" won't clear. The irrational is that the marketing spin on the fine cut model, which only comes in 54", appealed to me. It does cut nice but I've never heard anyone complain that the cut on the 60" non-fine cut is bad.

I agree with the previous poster who said it is going to depend on your property/terrain and whether you can get a 60" through. I went from a 54" to a 60" when I bought my first Kubota six years ago and stayed with the
60" when I got my new one this year, also got a 62" on a John Deere 2305. You would be surprised at how much quicker you can get a large area mowed and I have not had any scalping issues with the "self-leveling" deck on my Kubota, but I mow at 3" so for those who mow closer, it may be an issue.

I like running my machines, but I am all for something that will get the job done quicker so I can go on to other things; for me the 60" works well, but check your yard to make sure it will fit or you will wind up using a push mower to trim and I don't even want to think about that.

I have the 54" on my BX 1850. Some parts of my yard are level and others are not. I know where I mow off camber the cut is not great. I think this would be even more exagerated on the bigger deck. If you mow in tight spots as I do, without the chute attached or flipped up the 54" deck is about 56-57" wide for clearance issues. If I had a large flat yard the 60 would be great. In my case some days I wish I had the 48" deck for less headaches. Keep in mind the 54 is an odd size and there aren't many options for aftermarket blades.

I asked for a 60" on mine, didnt want a 54q and so far I love having a 60". I have a fair amount of things to mow around but with the HST its seems to be a breeze. At first i wanted a fine cut but my dealer says the regular deck cuts fine and that is what I got and I been happy with it so far. The 60" seems to make it really nice on turns and faster cut. If I ever had to do smaller I would be getting a 48" not 54" due to width of the BX make it perfect to go between things.

1*Nope not good.

2*I had a CC with a 54'' mower that let me mow up closer to the house.
I replaced the CC with a BX1500 with a 48'' mower and I can't mow as close to the house because the tractor lights fender etc will hit the house if i try that with the 48 mower.

3*I like the sixty inch mower because it leaves less to string trim along ditches and banks.
It will also mow farther back under things such as overhangs etc.
