Posted this on LMF but thought I could get help here also.:D
My mother has a GT2000 Craftsman 20hp with 42" mower. She had hit something a few years back and broke the casting on the left spindle. Replace everything but have not been able to get the mower to cut even ever since. I think the deck may be bent but is there a easy way to level out the blades? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I have several Sears and Craftsmen mowers. For some reason, the adjustment on the wheel height is always loosening up. Kind of a funny trait they have.

Have you check arms/supports..deck to mower frame..see if bent or pinching.

Its the deck because when you make 1 pass you can notice the unevenness. the left blade is lower in the middle. Right blade seem square and match the left outside on the return cut.:confused2:

Put the tractor on level surface and put the mower deck in the highest cutting position. Take a measuring tape and measure with the mower blades front to rear and side to side relative the paved surface below. You adjust the front with the adjustment on the two front arms and the back is either fixed or has some adjustment as well. You should be able to get it even front to back and side to side. It was detailed how to do it in my manual for the tractor. And Sears has all user manuals online to download.

I hit a stump with mine pretty hard last summer, and bent the blade.
Put on a new blade, and it still cut uneven. Then noticed one of my support
arms was bent...works fine now.

If your mower deck actually bent around the spindle bolts, making the blades
not square with each other, you may not be able to adjust it out.

When you do the blade to ground measurement, make sure your tires are
all aired up also.

Flip deck over today and put a straight edge on blades they were out only about 1/16" so did not shim just sharpened blades. Reinstall and mowed to see where I was out, and lowered right side of deck to even out the deck. Seem good now but will recheck when it stops raining. Thanks for the help.

make sure tires are pumped up evenly, i had a murray once that mowed unevenly, adjusted and checked everything. never would mow right, until my brother notice one rear was under inflated, that was the problem all along.
