I have a new Bush Hog 5-foot rotary cutter, hooked to a Ford 8N (hope to upgrade to a new tractor next year), but have the same problem I had with the old Mono rotary cutter: When I raise the mower to its highest setting (or when I drive through a shallow ditch) the front edge of the mower deck comes up and hits the underside of the driveshaft between the PTO and the mower. This could damage something.
Are there any cures or fixes for this situation, or must I simply try to remember not to raise the mower to its highest and/or not drive through ditches. Any advice appreciated.

If you tighten the top link then the back of the mower will lift up more and perhaps change the angle relative to the drive shaft so it doesn't hit. Basically, if the rear of the mower is higher up, then the gearbox which is midmunted on the mower will also be higher and give more clearance.

Might help

I agree with Hayden. I've never had that problem, but Wen has mentioned bending a driveshaft that same way.
