HELP! Guys, I'm trying to find the thread for the mower deck mover that is basically a couple of shafts with wheels on them that go in place of the scalp wheels on the front of the deck. Then, you turn the deck on its side and move it. Anybody know the name of the folks that make these things?

I went to Lowes and in the section with all the casters I bought some small "low boy" casters that the scalp wheels sit in...mine are brown with each having three little casters each on a metal frame cradle. They're good for some 150# a piece. Someday I'll take a picture and post it. I bought them for $7 each and, obviously, use 4 for the removal process.

With them I can remove the deck in about 4 minutes. With the small wheels, you're stuck removing the deck in the smooth-floor garage.

Not that this is the thread you were speaking of, but this is how I solved the problem of that heavy deck.

I got a set of those axles and I really like them. Can sharpen the blades very conveniently, plus it saves quite a bit of floor space with deck vertical in winter.

Remember winter?? :)

I have a set of those moweraxles and they are the way to go for stowage and servicing of the MMM.

Use the FEL to lift the MMM into position then set it down. The MMM is easily rolled around out of the way.

I hope that deck gets some use.

Volfandt, what is that bungee I see in this photo?

That bungee is part of my feeble attempt to fabricate a mulch plug for the BX's 60" MMM. :D
I did a thread on it many moons ago.....

End result was that it did OK if I kept up with the grass which meant mowing at least 2 times a week. If it had to cut over a 1/2" it would make windrows and it was practically useless in damp/wet grass.

It was one of those winter projects that just didn't cut the musturd when put in use :D

Three things:

1) Dude. Didn't see the line in the manual about steam cleaning and waxing your mower after each use.

2) Where do you "pick" from to get the MMM up on those axles? I'm assuming there is some place you can hook in or some strap you made and that you don't just pick up one lip of that oh-so-pretty mower deck and hope it doesn't tip to the other side when you get it up...

3) While this is a nifty way to store the deck, it still looks like a royal pain to pull it out with the turning of the scalp wheels and replacement of the one set with these axle things. Turned the scalp wheels ONCE and vowed to never do it again. Took a half hour and wasn't very easy. Or fun.

Good question, I have the same, how do you guys rig the deck to pick it without scraping something or twisting something or otherwise damaging a $1,600 dollar lawn mower attachment?

> Dude. Didn't see the line in the manual about steam cleaning and waxing your mower after each use.< Oh it's there on page 'errr, ahhh, yeah, that page :D

Actually that pic was taken when that MMM was still a virgin and hadn't cut one single blade of grass yet. You see when one buys a brand new MMM in the dead of winter, one's mind starts to modify and change things after said mind has sat and looked at said MMM for too long :D

How did I lift it into that position? Easy, 1st you start off with FEL bucket hooks (did a thread on that), hook up a chain to the MMM and to the bucket hooks and then I let the BX's hydraulics make little work of depositing said 250lb MMM where ever I want it too :D
These pics were taken the following winter when I was putting the MMM away for the winter. It weren't as purty as it was in the 1st pic.

I can R&R my 60" MMM in about 10 - 15 minutes without breaking a sweat. it's all in having a plan :D
