After about 50 hour of mowing with my eMax I am not impressed. First it took me a while to figure out how to set the mower height. It's a tiny stepped round barrel at the end of the shaft the knob is on and it has a very small range. And, the numbers don't line up with the tab. Go one click too far and it drops all the way down again. But I got it figured eventually.

Bigger problem is that it doesn't stay put. Now, I'll admit I don't have the smoothest yard, but I take it slow. However, hit a bump, or have one of the anti scalping wheels hit, and if it lifts the deck up even the slightest the turn knob will move a few clicks.

Anyone have any success making this all a little more useful?

TIA.

I don't have an emax, but it sounds like the adjustment knob is not locking into the indentations to keep it steady. Most of those adj knobs usually have some sort of tensioning spring, or other locking mechanism, perhaps a clip of some sort. Take a close look and try to replicate your bumps by hand, on a level drive way and see what kind of movement you get with the knob, and if it looks like there should be some sort of fastener for it.

Call your dealer /sales guy and ask him to take a pic of another one on the lot to see if it matches up with yours.

sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'm sure you'll get more replies from eMax owners.

I have a emax 25 with the mower deck and it was setup from the dealer ship. I have been mowing the last 4 years with no problems with what you are describing. Not sure if I can be much help, but will try.

Have you still got this tractor and figured it out? From what I'm gathering, the knob has come loose and moves a bit, no longer just a tight circle when turning, but can be tilted. I'm going to see if it can be tightened to no longer shift. I have a picture from the bottom, and it appears the contact areas are worn.
