My Toro Wheelhorse 520XI's 60" deck did not come with the water port hookup for a garden hose. My dealer said I could still install them though. How well does this system work when cleaning the fresh grass from underneath your mower deck? Does it remove all of the grass, or do you still have to scrape some off by hand? Will it remove dried grass that's been on the deck for a week or so? I noticed some Toro and Cub Cadet mower decks offer this as a standard option.

The problem is with that device that if you use it straight after mowing the hot bearings such up the water causing the premature rusting of the bearings. On the other hand does your model have the bearings with the grease zerk on top, if so fill it with grease after and it will force the water out. I cannot comment on the performance as I dont have any tractors with the deckwash feature.
Doesnt that tractor come with the attachmatic hookup system. If so just drop the deck and clean it up off the tractor leave it off until next time you need to mow. This way you can clean it easily and effectively and it makes your tractor look more like a tractor when its off and if you drop her offroad your less likely to get stuck.
I reccomend cleaning the deck right after you use it. this way the stuff is easier to get off. Also wheelhorse decks are known to rust out quickly if left dirty.
I drop the deck on mine after every mow and clean it up and store off the tractor until next mow.
Hope this info helps.

Arthur, I've got the 'deck wash system' on my CC 2544 (44" deck). The wash system is not worth the aggrevation. It will partially clean the underside, but any REALLY stuck on stuff will remain. Worst part is, it throws green goo everywhere including all over the top of the deck, in all the nooks & crannies, etc. So then you have a mess on top and below. All I do now is give the deck a quick scrape with a paint stick or the likes & then blow the whole thing off with my leaf blower. I remove the deck and give it a good scrape/inspection every month or so.
G/luck

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. Sounds like I'll keep cleaning my mower deck the same way that I have been. Parking it on car ramps and hosing it off with the garden hose.
