"Movin On" was my aboslute favorite show when I was a kid. I was in awe of big rigs. Besides working on, and driving a couple fire apparatus, I have no knowledge about big rigs though.
Does anyone know any details of that truck? From what I found in Google searches, the show used '73 and '74 KW W925-VIT rigs, with a unknown 10spd, and a Cummins VT903 325HP V-8 motor. The only known existing "Movin On" rig is in Wyoming, and still has the same paint job, with a shodow of the lettering for "Sonny" still visible on the driver door. From what I read, the Cummins VT903 was a love/hate motor; people either loved them or hated them, but in between.
MOVIN
How are big rigs specced out? It seems there are different length chassis, depending on ca, cab/sleeper, and necessary load requirements. And, for a given manufacturer, not only can you get different size engines and trannies, you can also get different brands. Seems there are for more variables and options available than there is in a pickup.
While Googling for the TV show truck, I thought it was interesting, there is at least one know "BJ and the Bear" '80 KW Aerodyne out there with original tv show paint and names on the door. the people who own it also have a same year/model truck, painted exactly as in the TV show.
Rmember watching "Duel" too; not sure the model of that rig though.
Also while looking, it appears there are no good dvd's of "Movin On".
Sure was a fun show for the time. Showed some cool countryside too, while they were on the road.
