"Movin On" was my aboslute favorite show when I was a kid. I was in awe of big rigs. Besides working on, and driving a couple fire apparatus, I have no knowledge about big rigs though.

Does anyone know any details of that truck? From what I found in Google searches, the show used '73 and '74 KW W925-VIT rigs, with a unknown 10spd, and a Cummins VT903 325HP V-8 motor. The only known existing "Movin On" rig is in Wyoming, and still has the same paint job, with a shodow of the lettering for "Sonny" still visible on the driver door. From what I read, the Cummins VT903 was a love/hate motor; people either loved them or hated them, but in between.

How are big rigs specced out? It seems there are different length chassis, depending on ca, cab/sleeper, and necessary load requirements. And, for a given manufacturer, not only can you get different size engines and trannies, you can also get different brands. Seems there are for more variables and options available than there is in a pickup.

While Googling for the TV show truck, I thought it was interesting, there is at least one know "BJ and the Bear" '80 KW Aerodyne out there with original tv show paint and names on the door. the people who own it also have a same year/model truck, painted exactly as in the TV show.

Rmember watching "Duel" too; not sure the model of that rig though.

Also while looking, it appears there are no good dvd's of "Movin On".

Sure was a fun show for the time. Showed some cool countryside too, while they were on the road.

I believe this is a father / son team that owns these trucks. Both original trucks from their respective TV series (each show had more than one truck). I didn't take the pics, but my apologies for the pics being taken across the jersey barrier. The B J MacKay truck should be restored by now, these pics were taken last year.

Cool!

In the search I did, there were some mentions that the guy in Wyoming had sold the Movin On truck.

The Movin On show used 3-4 trucks from what I could find. One was for sure a '73; it had the "KW" logo in gold, which was thier 50the anniversary.

There is a BJ and the Bear fan site. They indicated more than 4 truck were used in that series.

From what I could gather out on the net, the same guys in the photo's you posted also owned this truck first; repainted and detailed to look like the show truck. In one of the links, they noted the exhaust stack had to be cut to meet height requirements whil on the trailer.

I've got an old picture of one of the trucks with me standing next to it. I was probably about 10 y.o. It was in town at a truck dealership and one of the trucks used in the series. It had part of the sleeper headliner damaged from studio lighting according to someone there. Strange how I can remember that.

Yep, far more variables and options. I can't claim to know much about them myself, but one of my brothers used to drive a Western Star in Alaska before he bought his own 1969 Kenworth (conventional cab?) with a Cummins engine, then later leased it out and bought a cabover Peterbilt with a much bigger Caterpillar engine to drive himself. You have optional engines, transmissions, axle brands and ratios, etc.

Gotta remember "Duel"...? That was 1971, although it has been on TV many times since then...

And yup, somebody got thier hands on one of those trucks! And has some info on the other four used for the movie.

I found a couple of websites about the "Convoy" trucks, and a replica being built with another truck, using some salvaged parts from one of the movie trucks(a couple of the movie trucks were totalled in the movie, while the remaining one was converted to a cement truck, and totalled in a wreck in 1988).

They have a Mack data sheet on one of the web pages. Amazing all the options and configurations!
