So, I was given 1970 CB750, in decent shape, only 11 000 miles on it. It was not driven in 2010, but PO drove it in 2009. I am slowly making it road worthy again with the long term plan of frame up resto next winter.

Here is my question:

Exhaust are solid, but rusty, I don't care for blink blink much, is there other way to refinish them? Like black powdercoating or maybe chemical coating? Rattle can high temp paint is from my experience waste of time and money.

What do you think?

You could have them ceramic coated. I've heard of folks doing that to their headers to help eliminate heat issues, but it is pricey. If you want to restore it, I'd shop around for a good original set.

I am not reading you cleearly..... what is blink blink?

What I am thinking though is taking exhaust and blast it clean then have it chromed over. Isn't most bikes have chrome on their exhausts ?

Oh, sorry, blink blink is a word for chrome in the part of the jeep world I am associated with:)

If you are going to restore next winter, I would drive it til then and then look for some new ones. If these are original pipes there could be internal rust since they are over 40 years old.

Enjoy the new ride and by all means, Ride safe!!

not sure how sever your situation is....but you'd be amazed what some "mother's" brand chrome polish and some elbow grease will accomplish. OR....check e-bay for used parts if you're planning on a restoration. Good luck:thumbsup:

Might find a set at the AMCA Swapmeet in Oley, PA in April, Google Perkiomen Chapter AMCA. Another trick is to use the black or tan fibreglass wrap used on hot rod manifolds and header pipes, I use it on Harley choppers and bobbers. I have some on a 42 Bobber, wrapped over handmade exhaust, has been in place about 6 years, probably 7000+ miles, looks as good as new. If you are not looking for original appearence, this might be the way to go. Good luck.
