Anyone else have problems with 3215 oil leakage? I've tightened the oil pan bolts a few times, now every time I use it, usually need to add oil. Anyone had to replace oil pan gaskets? Thank You Aaron

Tightening the pan bolts too much can actually make it leak. Most pans are put on with silicone nowdays and you just want to tighten them up. Clean the bottom area and run it a bit, then see if you can locate the area that is leaking. My Misubishi built 1526 [ 3 cyl Misubishi indirect injected made in Japan motor ] had a leak, and it was the bolts where the motor was bolted to the frame on the right side. Motor blocks can be ' located ' a little off when machining, block castings can be thin in spots they are not supposed to, and tooling can drill/tap too deep during machining. On the right side of the block above the area my leak was showing up, I removed one bolt at a time looking for a bolt that was wet with oil. Cleaned each hole/bolt with spray brake cleaner, blew them dry with compressed air, and reassembled them one at a time with thread sealer. I had two that were showing oil, and after I did all four bolts, it now stays dry. Did not take long, and you can do a better job than some young kid at the dealership. I used Permatex 59214 high temp thread sealant, but most thread sealers would work.

Are you sure your oil leakage is coming from the pan and have you put something under the tractor to locate the leak. Myself I use a washing machine tray and paper or better yet cardboard. The other thing is do you still have the washer installed on the drain plug?
It always possible that the oil ias coming from another area and just setting around the pan, just a thought.
From service manual there is a pattern for tightening the oil pan and bolt torque is 7.38-9.59 lbft

my 3016 did the same thing. kinda annoyed me lol. when i did my 400 hour ish engine oil change i decided to see what was going on... dropped the front driveshaft. removed oil pan. they used what looks like a cheap orange silicone about a micron thick...
so i cleaned everything up real nice and used some "Right Stuff" black gasket maker and VOILA no more leaks n weaps... simple fix IMO... i ran full synthetic 10w30 diesel oil from the first oil change. i plan to run the same on my 2638. hopefully don't have to do the same thing years from now but nothings perfect.:)

My 2615, same engine as yours, has had a minor leak for the past 15 years. But not enough to go to the trouble of dropping the pan. I don't believe your oil pan has a gasket. Mine doesn't. My dealer told me, when I do decide to drop the pan, use black RTV as a sealant.
Permatex(R) Ultra Black(R) Maximum Oil Resistance RTV Silicone Gasket Maker - Permatex

I found that the black sealant can only be chiseled off, destroying parts. It can be a very time consuming expensive solution. I use the red high temp sealant for easy disassembling.

Unless his engine had been worked on and pan dropped before, the tractors and engine was made by Mitsubishi for Mahindra and the engine uses a gasket on the oil pan, thats why I question it how its leaking. I've got 586 hrs on my 2815 and no leakage.
To save money Mahindra probably went with what you found since they make their own engines.
That's what happens when you get a bean counter involved instead of an engineer making decisions.

These are Misubishi built tractors with Misubishi built motors.... My 5035 35 Series is Mahindra built tractor and motor. My 25 Series 2555 is TYM built tractor with Mahindra built motor.... [ fun, ain't it :) ]
