Motor - Max24 vs Max26

Interesting that the Max24 and Max26 has the exact same motor (Mits S3L2), same displacement (80.4 CI), same compression ratio (22.1), and yet the Max24 has 24.4 hp at 2500 rpm while the Max26 has 25.6 hp at 2600 rpm.

Is the 24 detuned or is the 26 governed at a higher rpm and gaining the extra 1.2 hp?

Hard to believe 100 rpm could accomplish an added 1.2hp. If so, then how could I increase the governed rpm by 100 more?.... The engine appears to be made to do this.

Seems I was correct. The Mits Mfg provides BHP output to RPM for the S3L2 as follows:

1500 rpm 14.8 BHP
1800 rpm 18.2 BHP
2000 rpm 20.4 BHP
2200 rpm. 22.4 BHP
2500 rpm 24.8 BHP
3000 rpm. 28.4 BHP

So the Max24, 25 and 26 utilize identical motors, but default the max governed RPM according to desired BHP output by model. Further, it seems the motor is designed to safely achieve these values.

So, it begs the question how to optimize BHP/RPM....... Obviously a consideration once the warranty has expired.

As a footnote, the discontinued Max28 also utilizes the same motor, but manages an output of 28 BHP at 2600 RPM, so I would imagine there must be changes in the fuel delivery system to accommodate the increased BHP without significantly increasing RPM. Kudos to Mahindra who certainly has a multi-configurable platform in regards to its singular power-plant selection.

The 1626 also has the S3L2 and is rated by Mahindra at 25.9 HP @ 2500 rpm.

For a silly comparison, the 80" engine in my Harley is rated 58 HP @ 5000 rpm.
