In the newest issue of Mother Earth News there is an interesting article on tractor safety. The article claims that tractor accidents kill nearly 1 person every day. Of those deaths, Rollover accidents kill 130 people per year; most of those on tractors that do not have a ROPS. The second leading cause of tractor deaths is RUNover accidents, claiming another 60 deaths per year. Of the runover accidents many simply run themselves over as they attempt to hook up an implement with the parking brake off; the majority of runovers are children under the age of 15 who were apparently riding on the tractor.
The article has a lot of interesting points, it is worth picking up the magazine just to read it. Points about blade tip speed, pto's wrapping your clothes around them at the rate of 9 revolutions per second, are well worth reading.
