The thread on ugliest GM car got me thinking about starting this thread.

Here's one for all of us older guys and even the younger car enthusiasts. I want to limit this to cars built in the 1950s because there are so many of them and the styles vary so much. Many of our younger readers have never even seen many of these cars and photos of some of the finest may make them realize that automobile design was at it's best in the 50s.

Don't just name names. Send PHOTOS!

I will start it out with one unusual car that was ahead of it's time. The 1954 Kaiser Darrin was one of the sportiest looking cars of the 50s. It was the world's first automobile with a fiberglass body and the body only weighed 400 pounds.

The doors opened by sliding into a space behind the front fenders.

While I don't have a picture of it, my vote goes to the 1953 Studabaker.

Guess I'm partial to 57 Chevy Belairs because first one I bought had just been painted with a red I have never seen anywhere else. I called it sun burst red. It was perfect for this car. Then second one I bought was black and I installed a 421-375 HP Pontiac engine in it. Was a wild ride!

Of course I've driven all the Chevrolets built in the '50s (with the exception of some year model corvettes) and the '55 and '57 Chevrolets turned out to be the most popular, but while I agree the '57 was the best looking, I'd rather drive a '56 than either of the more popular '55 and '57.

Just curious, why?
