After two 12"+ storms in one week, using the plow truck for another 10" storm a few days ago was not what I wanted to do. The snowbanks were already 6-7' high and my driveway was getting more and more narrow.

So I hooked the snowblower back onto the Kioti and went to town throwing that snow 20' into the woods. I do miss that clean look of snowblowing and no high snowbanks. Here are some pictures:

That poor Kioti has been sitting for about 2 months untouched. It was about 13 degrees F, I went out cycled the glow plugs once and it started right up. After about 20 mins of warming up, she went right to work. I worked in a long sleeve shirt with my sleeves rolled up with the heat cranked. :D

One problem I did have was that the driveshaft from the PTO to the snowblower would not go on completly. It has a sleeve on the PTO side of the driveshaft that you slide forward while inserting the shaft and the little locking balls inside the driveshaft are supposed to release and the then lock onto the PTO shaft.

They seem to be stuck and will not release. I sprayed enough WD-40 to put a hole in the ozone and tried to pry them open with a screwdriver with no prevail. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Surprisingly, the driveshaft only fell off twice, I would shut off the PTO, reattach it and get back to work. In the end, I still love my tractor!

Now that's what I call "working":D

The only advise I can give on the coupler is to "whack" it with a hammer.
Best case, it works, Worst case, it's still broke. I don't know if it can get "more" broke:confused:

Looks like fun though

i've been looking at snowblowers for my ck20hst and am pretty much set on on the provonost puma 54".... i noticed you have a 60" on your ck20. do you have any issues with the pto output on the larger (60") blower ? my rear tires are set wide (about 52") so the 54" unit just clears them.... but a wider blower would be helpful.... i am just concerned about the pto output of 16hp... thanks

I'd say give the WD40 about 4 weeks (sunny days are on the way) and I bet that PTO shaft will slip right into place.:p ;)

Derek,

Beautiful home, setting and snow removal job! About time you got that orange beast running again--leaving it sit that long is cause of calling in the KPS (Kioti Protective Services) and moving it to a home where it will get regular attention.

Nice pics.

jimb1724, I have never had any problems with the 60" blower. The most snow I have gone through was 13" of heavy wet snow and it was the only time I actually ran the tractor at the 540-pto rpms (2800± tractor). Normally, I only run the tractor at 2400 and it never bogs down while blowing snow. It will work it pretty hard when I try going through snowbanks that have been packed by plow trucks or set and froze for a while, but going slowly as to not bog down the tractor works fine. If you ever head to the east side of NH, give me a call, you can try for yourself.

To all, Thanks for the kind words. This is way too much fun!

I will post a video from inside the cab as soon as my putfile account is activated.

I also enjoyed your pics, nothing beats a good action shot of a nice tractor at work.
I just came in from plowing four inches of snow and although I don't really consider it fun it didn't resemble work either.
