I was at the local JD today and I sprang the question about the rumored June release of JD's new equipment.

First .. he was shocked that anyone in the general public knew about this ... "Where dya hear that????" he said ...

Anyway, apart from the new curved loader arms and front shell, the major part he said would be to simplify the model line by reducing the series numbers:

2000, 3000 and 4000 series only (CUT line). The 3000 series will contain the old 4210 through 4410 lines, etc. This guy was vague, and very unsure of his future product line however, so I take this as a incomplete picture.

Thought you'd like to know.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

That's interesting. I'd think changing the model lines that drastically could be confusing to some people. When I was reading about the model lines changing I was thinking about them having only three specific models: i.e. 4120, 4420, 4720. I say 4120 because I don't know what model number the 4115 would become. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If they would change the model lines to the 2000, 3000, and 4000, what would Deere do with the 2210 SCUT? What about the current small-chassis CUTs (4100, 4110, 4115)? Will they become the 2000 model series?

Ahhh! So many questions. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I don't think that would simplify the model line much. That sounds like renumbering the current model line. Maybe if they renamed the 790 and 990 to a 3120 and 3220 that would give it some consistancy.

There is a 4720 clearly shown in Robert in NY s thread/

The simplification should be in available models/options, the numbering will most likely stay in series...

Hmm. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. There would be a certain sense to a 2000, 3000, 4000, grouping. After all - calling everything from a 4010 to a 4710 a "4000-Ten' covered an awful lot of ground. A 4710 is not a 5220 but it's not a 4310 either, much less a 4010. Now having a 2000, 3000 and 4000 level may offer more consistency and progression with the the 5000, 6000, 7000 et al bigger ag tractors. It would create a little initial confusion at first for sure.

I have never understood the whole number system to start with. Is the 2440 utility tractor in between the 2210 and 2010??
Is the 4010 supposed to be just below the 4020?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Can someone explain?

Well, um, yeah. JD do tend to reuse them numbers a bit. Doing a "MachineryLink" search on some CUT numbers brings up some interesting namesakes! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The 2440 was from the old 40 series. JD had 10 series on up to 70 series on the 4wds, 60 series on the 2wds. Model numbers can be confusing if you have not followed the history of the make. CNH has a nice system now, letters representing the tractor along with numbers representing a hp number.

I went to my JD dealer yesterday, the reason is that I'm buying a new 990. What I learned is that they have made alot of changtes to the 990 now, from this past fall. I don't know if wnyone else has seen the changes. The ones that are most notable are: No exhaust pipe comming upoon the left side, its now down near the left front tire. The hydralics are now on the right side and they seemed to have taken care of the problem of the hoses hitting the tires. Also, and this might just be me going crazy, but I THOUGHT that there had been an "air-ride" type of seat on the 990 that I sat on last year. The seat now is the same as the 790. Anyone else know anything about this??
I'm new to this site and it seems like there is alot of information passed around, which I think is a great thing.
Thanks

The seats have not changed they have always been the same since the introduction of the series in 1989. I can't believe that JD put that dinky horizontal exhaust on the mean 990. Are you sure you were not looking at a new 790 by mistake? I know at the JD dealer I work for the new 790s were changed but we have not got a new 990 in since mine came in on July 20 of last year. With the hydraulics on the right side now no modification is needed to switch the loader hydraulics on the 430 loader to the other side like I had to do.
