This looks like it's turning into a project tractor, not what I intended.
At times there is quite a bit of blowby, other times, none. Should it come to that, how hard is a ring job on these little engines?

Is there something I might be missing that would cause the blowby? I haven't done a compression check. What should I expect to see, compression wise?

I have rebuilt gas engines before, pull the head, pull the pan, and rods, bearings and rings. Would rings and bearings still be available for this engine?

Also was looking the FEL over, it is a MF1014 FEL. I noticed that none of the pivot points, at least where the hyd cylinders connect, have lube zirk fittings. Is this normal? Doesn't look like there is a place for them.

Thanks

Should this be in another area? I searched rebuilds but came up empty.

Can't speak to the FEL question, but you should ask the dealer on the rebuild parts; you'll need to get them from the dealer anyway. They're probably still available; they were a couple years ago. I have been able to get a lot of parts for mine. I can tell you they cannot get a front weight rack for it, so some things are no longer stocked (you clearly don't need that part anyway!). But I would be willing to bet the rings and bearings are still around.

I did find a ARGO parts look up on line manual for your MF 1010 here AGCO Parts Books

If that link doesn't work follow this one.. click on guest button and follow directions to your tractor. AGCO Parts Books

There's lots of info and parts on line, of course your local MF dealer should be a big help also... as far as blow by one day and none another day.. might be a good idea to replace filters, bleed fuel lines.. replace the fuel in the tank, change the motor oil with the proper grade and use the oem oil filter. If you don't have a service manual, cough up the cash and get one.

This might be a maintenance issue rather than a sign of engine overhaul... however.. it may be that an overhaul is the answer.

The compression specs should be approx 400psi, (the exact specs can be found in service manual) you'll need a diesel engine compression tester. the gas engine one won't do.

OK thanks guys. Yesssss I do need a manual and will get one very soon. Too many irons in the fire, like why the CAL tax board wont refund the money they owe me, little things like that.

Good to hear of the "possibility" of nothing major needed. I will get the manual and diesel comp tester.

No, don't need a weight rack, the FEL does that nicely. I did find a couple zirks, but not as many I would expect to see. I figured, if it moved it should be lubed. How do you lube pivot points that do not have fittings, oil?

My MF 1010 has the same FEL and there is a zerk at each pivot point. Possible they had been broken off and should be replaced. If you have non-standard hydraulic cylinders, the fittings on the ends may not have grease fittings installed. Recommend you do so.

Also, if you resolved the compression issue, could you please post your findings?
