Southeast Michigan received 8.5+ inches of rain for the month of May........breaking a 60 year old record. Traditionally more rain falls during the month of June than during the month of May in SE Michigan /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. Been mowing the grass twice a week.

Southern Wisconsin got 10.5 inches in May. That broke our record set just a few years ago by almost an inch! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I actually mowed my lawn 2 days in a row, just to get it back to a manageable height. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Garry, you and Don can send some my way.
We got 1 1/2 inches; less than 1/2 of normal.
We've been in a drought since September '03!

We got to be right up there, how do u cut grass with that much rain? down here in my little part of western ny , it dries very slow. too much clay , just a few miles away it is more loam and dries much quicker. right now everything needs cutting 2 days ago and some needed cuttjng last week, but to wet to think of using any of the mowers today. and supossed to rain again tonight. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Geesh, I wish I could. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I'd be helping out a fellow TBN'er (oh, and some other folks down there too! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif).......

.........it would help reduce the mosquito population. I swear I heard a few squadrons practicing dive bombing last night! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

..........and it might let our sweet corn crop be adequate. We're already hearing reports that our corn production is going to be W A A A A A Y down this year because of all of the rain. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But, I suppose I should try to be optimistic about it and remember that our depleted water tables will probably get replenished. That's a good thing! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Timing..... Many times it would rain at night. The grass would have the day to dry out and then mow in the evening.

Lots of flooded basements, houses in standing water, roads were underwater. Worst flooding in years. Glad I'm on higher ground. Sump pump was still working overtime.

The Great Lakes have had excessively low water levels for several years.

Mowing has been an issue of timing here, too. The nicest weekend we've had all spring for any mowing at all was the weekend I spent driving all over. That Saturday I had a college graduation to attend in the morning out of town followed by a cookout there and then a drive back here for a wedding in the late afternoon followed by a reception. The next day I was on the road again to my daughter's graduation from law school. I took her, her Mom, her Mom's dad and her Mom's new husband all out to dinner afterwards By the time I got back to town it was dark. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I certainly wouldn't have missed any of those things for anything, but I have to admit I sure thought about all that sunshine more than a couple times. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sounds like my good "mowing days". Company visiting, places I have to be..........etc.
The rest of the days, it rains.

Mid-Michigan (Lansing area) had just under 10.5 inches of rainfall during May, 23 days out of 31 it rained. We got one soaker in my area that left 3 1/4 inches in 2 hours....

I have rarely been on TBN the past month, too busy trying to keep up with mowing my 5 acre yard, raking up the grass clippings, drying up the basement from the 3 1/4 inch rain that overwhelmed my sump pump, etc. While I could gripe about all the rainfall, I'm sure coping with a month long drought would be worse. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
