Hi,

I'm in the market for a new tractor. I've been looking at NH TC30 in particular. I have been noticing the more modern features of Montana and Farmtrac. I don't question there value and dependability, I'm just wondering if they will be around in 20 years to get parts and service? There are about 4 Montana dealers and 9 Farmtrac dealers within 100 miles of me. When I buy my new tractor, I plan on keeping it for life. I only put about 70 hours a year on a tractor for my uses. I'm 31 and I don't anticipate putting much more than 2500 hours in lifetime of use. Will a Montana or Farmtrac last that long, and more importantly, will they still be in the US market? Probably no definate answer I guess. Although I like the Montana/Farmtrac more than the TC30, I am more certian of NH being around in 20 years than the others.

Are Farmtrac 270 and Montana 2740 made in Korea? Here is something that might be far fetched, but not in my mind. What will happen to all these wonderful tractors coming out of S. Korea if there is a war in that region? With the way things are over there with the North, it is not an unlikely situation. Just some stupid things I think about.

In short, I like the Montana/Farmtrac tractors, and I am looking for some assurances on the longevity in the marketplace. I should probably just buy what I like and not worry about the rest. I just don't want a tractor that I won't be able to get parts or service for a few years down the road.

Thanks all.

Here is all I can say. LG is a 92 billion company that wants a piece of the US market in the tractor sector. The LG manufactured tractors will be here for the long term in my estimation. They are having tremendous success and won't be inclined to let that go.

As far as the unrest in that part of the world, it could happen but if there is a problem then it will definitly affect Japan. N. Korea has already let Japan know they could be a target. How does this matter? TC30 is a Shibaura I believe and it is made in Japan. Who knows really about the politics but they would all be in the same boat.

The Montana/Farmtrac in my opinion is a better tractor than the TC30 and I would not let the other stuff bother you to much.

Thanks,
Maka

WOW that is a great sales pitch, buy my tractor because the other guys are going to have their factory nuked!

Kim Jong Il is probably certifiably insane, and unfortunately he is the leader of North Korea. He has also threatened South Korea. He also threated to shoot a nuke to Hawaii. However, I suspect that parts for any tractor will be available for at least 10 years, barring thermo-nuclear destruction.

L.G. is a huge company. During my tour in S. Korea, you could find L.G. everywhere.

Montana will be here for decades. Don't worry!

I'd worry more about Iran and their nuclear aspirations. Those lunatics decide to pop one off in the Middle East somewhere and diesel may not be available at any price. I have a 270 FarmTrac with 209.5 trouble free hours. I love the tractor and would do the deal all over again. I was also considering a TC30 fut the FarmTrac out-featured it in my opinion.

I also have a Farmtrac, a 300DTC with loader and I am not worried about parts and service in the least bit.I only have 49 hours on it so far and it is a very strong machine.I am somewhat concerned about N.Korea though.Buy the one you like and get on with it.

<< I'm just wondering if they will be around in 20 years >>

Lets see, my 27 HP Farmtrac with loader cost me less than $15K vs. comparable red, blue, orange, or green at around $19K ... saved me about $4K.

At meager 5% per year, my $4K becomes approximately $10,600 in 20 years if my math is correct.

I opted to take my chances with what appears to be a sound piece of machinery.

In that case you need to buy a Power Trac. They make heavy underground mining equipment.:D

Uhhhhh, Jer, just a question for you. Is that factory underground & safe from a meteor strike? :p Perhaps the best tractor for parts availability would come from a "neutral" nation that is not a political target, and also has a large undergound bunker system for its infrastructure. I'm thinking a Swiss tractor might have parts long into the future.
