I'm looking to monitor temperature of, a few or maybe more, locations. Two different garden spots, my well house and maybe another one for what ever. I used to have a couple inexpensive weather stations and put them at two different locations on my property. Interesting to see the different temps and wind speeds/directions. The weather stations have died from numerous reasons and i was thinking i'd like to monitor temps again. Thanks in advance!

I just picked up an Ambient weather station, it is their top of the line unit. I think it can monitor up to 8 temperature sensors, I'm monitoring 3 at the moment, Indoor, Garage, and Pump house.

Not what you're likely looking for but if there is a clear line of sight...and the distance is not too great...an infrared laser thermometer could possible work...?

About 2 months ago i wanted to monitor my freezers, and add freezer alarms. I got this

after a few weeks, i added a sender unit to wifes heated garden shed and one to her greenhouse. The base station is about 300 feet from the greenhouse, and it never drops out the signal. You can set individual high and low alarm set points.
im amazed how nice these units are. No monthly fees. The base station links to my wifi.

No the size of the sensing spot is proportional once you are approximately 3 feet away the accuracy drops off exponentially

@cqaigy2 Many of the standard weather stations offer add-on temperature monitors. (My Vantage Pro 2 does, for example) I would ask why you want to monitor the temperatures and whether you just want to be able to check when you feel like it, or get an alarm (local vs phone), or whether you want something to happen, such as a heater turning on or off. I know of solutions for all of them, but they are different...

All the best,

Peter

Those are good questions!

I'm interested in seeing if the temp goes around freezing 32. An alarm would be nice, especially for the well house. In the well house, I currently have a thermostat that turns the heater on/off so i don't need to control anything, just monitor.

As ponytug indicated. It only your imagination and pocketbook that limits how a Davis Vantage Pro 2 can be set up to monitor for you.
