Looked at your video, and then saw this one:
Bark Buster Log Wood Splitter 3 Point PTO Screw Type Operation - YouTube
I have a Bark Buster, think it's a good machine. People say how dangerous they are - when I see the other fella's video, and a few things in yours, I see now why they say that.
Hand should never go where you put your hand. Since you are splitting with the short side of the wood on the table, it's gonna spin pretty often. You never put your hand on the side of the wood that will turn down. Never. Never ever. That's goona whack a finger off when your hand goes with. Also it will be real easy for a chunk of wood to auger in tight at the botton between screw & table. Don't grab a piece of wood there with your hand below the wood.
In the other fella's video I posted, he does many things wrong. You need to start the wood on the left side of the wood, so plenty is sliding on the pipe. Lots of overhang over the pipe Not in the middle of the wood. It's very likely to slip off the pipe and bust you to pieces. As well, it puts tremendous pressure on the splitter, trying to bust the wood from the middle - start on an end & it will split easier.
And you don't kick your foot into the middle of the block of wood - right over the point. You don't force yourself right over the point, as well as kicking puts you off balance... sheez.
Man oh man. I see now why people say they are dangerous. They sure are when used that way!
Don't mean to be all negative on you - thanks for the posting and video. Don't want to beat up on you. Most of my comments are on the other video, where they are proud of the safety string they have. See how fast it pulls wood in, see how fast it spins wood around? String ain't really gonna do much.....
Proper technique, know where your hands and feet go, keep yourself out of the zone..... Don't force things, let the machine do the work, no need to ever kick anything. When it jams up, you don't whack at the machine while it's running with the sharp side of the axe.... The simple stuff, ya know?
