I have seen a few people on here with Modern Ag's finishing mowers and such, I am particularly intrested in some long term updates as to how they are holding up. Specifically what kinds of problems are you experiencing with them and how is the cut? Do you like the galvanized finish? They are manufactured about 30min from my house and I may be pulling the trigger on one pending the feed back I get. Looking @ the super highway series.

You may have to be patient in waiting for a response. Modern brand implements are carried by my New Holland dealer, but I don't know anyone who owns them. They seem to be well made and spec'd properly. I do wish they published the total weight of their boxblades like they do their rotary cutters.

As an aside, I noticed the online add for boxblades specified a tractor horsepower up to 50 drawbar horsepower, but when I looked at their online manual, it said 40 hp. Considering that, I think I'd want to get something in writing on my sales contract that specified the size of tractor the blade was being purchased for. The online numbers could change and then you'd be left with only what the Operator's Manual says as a reference for warranty work.

If you are close to the the Beaumont, TX location of Modern implements, that would seem to be a plus for getting repairs or parts as needed. They certainly don't seem to be a fly-by-night outfit. The galvanized coatings seem to be a good idea, but you have to consider if you ever do any welding on the implement, being galvanized may not be the best.

I own a Modern 15' Super Predator Batwing. It has been a very good piece of equipment. Its now 4 years old I guess, and has about 350 hours on it. Still pretty lightly used, but has given me no problems.

I will say that I own a modern 15' wing, and a Rhino 15' wing, and the Modern pulls heavier. I run the modern on a 92 HP tractor, and pull the Rhino on a 75hp tractor.

In terms of rugged, I think the Rhino is more Rugged. Id post a picture if I had any that were not bad. Seems to me the only time I remember to take a picture is when Ive done something so stupid I need to laugh about it later.

All in all, I like the modern more than the Rhino, though I have no problems with either.

My neighbor has a 10 or 12 foot drag type modern that he's very pleased with. I'd buy one from my local NH dealership if they weren't priced more than $1000 more than a comparable competitor's unit at another local dealership.

Thanks guys good info, Keep it coming. The reality of this is that the dealer has a *USED* Woods BB60X Brush bull Extreme with 20 hr on it and full factory warranty that he wants to sell me @ the same price as a *NEW* Modern equivalent rotary cutter. The problem I see with this is that the Modern is built thicker and better all around so Im having trouble wrapping my head around the Woods being a good deal. Price for the Woods 5ft was $1650.00 same for the new Modern. By the way I did look @ the Rhino's and they were $600 more than the Modern around here about equal with the woods units in price but did look well built.
