Mitsubishi/Satoh Beaver III

I'm buying a home on 2.54 ac. of mainly pasture in South Carolina, some the ground is rough. I didn't want to buy a lawn tractor from Lowes, HD or Walmart. I wanted a compact tractor and a rotary mower.

I just bought a Mitsubishi Beaver. It has Mitsubishi/Satoh on the side. I think its a 1987 model. I'm not sure if its an MT 373D, MT 373, S373D or S373. The manual I have is applicable to all of them. Its 2WD, 16.5 HP 3-cyl. diesel, CW PTO, 900 hrs. with a nearly new (5 hrs) 48" Land Pride finish mower. From the manual, it looks like the tractor weighs 1125 lbs. He didn't want to budge much off the price. $2895 for both. I drove it. No billowing blue smoke and the mower, lift, etc. all work fine. How did I do on this purchase? Seems like a good deal to me.

BTW, I don't know squat about tractors, but I'm learning quickly. Safety and maintenance are my main concerns. I hope to draw from the expertise found here. I'll be frequenting this site...a lot.

I bought a similar grey market 4wd in 1997 and paid $3,500 for it with no attachments and 325 on the clock. Your mower new would be 12-1500 I guess. I think you did very good as long as the tractor is in good condition. My tractor is just like yours except it is the grey version and 4wd. I have not regretted my purchase.
