Mitsubishi MT 750
Hey all,

I have a Mitsubishi MT 750 and the starter went out. I am having one heck of a time trying to find a replacement. I was considering a rebuild, but the old starter is pretty beat up, cracked housing and in pieces, so not sure it's rebuildable.
The part number on the starter is pretty beat up too, but the numbers I can make out look to be 5-81100-099. Not sure if this is the entire part number or even the right one (can only make out half of some of the numbers).

Any help or advice on how I could get my tractor up and going again would be appreciated. The project list for it is building up and it's dead in the yard.

Thank you.

The starter is not going to be unique to your brand of tractor.
Get to a good independent starter, alternator repair shop and ask about alternatives from fixing your to Chinese clone.

I had a Chinese one on My Nuffileld 465 for years and considered it better than the original Lucas one.

Do you know about spring wound starters. No?

Used around the world where no one can afford batteries. On critical gensets.
They turn the engine over much faster than an electrical one.

It is an interesting topic: Startwell Engineering – Mechanical Starting devices for Diesel Engines from .5 to 18 litres

If you need a way to get the tractor started so you can move it somewhere more convenient go to youtube.
Search "starting a tractor using the pto."

So I took the starter to a rebuild shop. He told me it was junk. He found me a new starter that bolted right up and starts the tractor like a dream. It is a hitachi gear reduction starter, so price was high, around 300. I figure worth it to have the tractor running.
