I'm looking at a 7 kw pto generator for possible use on my Bolens G174 which produces a nominal 17 hp. No problem so far. But while a small Kubota runs 540 on its shaft, my Iseki/Bolens offers a choice of 472, 752, or 1177 at 2700 rpm. That means the gauges should level out at about 1950 rpm engine speed. Without a tach I have to guess, but that seems about what I run the thing for mowing, and it has lots of power.

My question addresses the torque curve: how much effective power would be lost from the reduction in revolutions to match the 540 pto requirement? Would it have enough governor flexibility to handle changes in electrical load?

How many kw could I expect to harvest from a generator running at the reduced speed? At the moment a 5 kw portable Honda meets the needs of the emergency panel for the houses.
