Mitsubishi engine?

I've looked at the Boomer 40, R4041, R3039, U5030 and I202H. The Boomer 40 and R4041 have "Made by LS in Korea" on their engines which is odd as the other tractors all have Mitsubishi right on their engines. So, looking at the improved LS website today for the R4041, R4047 and U5020 it says (Mitsubishi origin) next to the engine spec. So does this mean it's made by LS but has a Mitsubishi design? If that's the case that's not a good move IMO.

For the value compact G3033 and G3038 they just have an identification number no Mitsubishi at all next to it.

The P series have Iveco engines though I've heard that Cummins may be in the works.

All other LS tractors have Mitsubishi engines.

That's interesting. Only thing it could mean is that LS has bought the rights to the S4QL engine and they are making them in S. Korea. It could mean the engines are shipped from Mitsubishi to S. Korea in part where they are assembled for the LS's. It could also mean the assembly plant in Japan has been effected by the recent events are being being assembled in S. Korea until the Japanese factory can get back into operation. Either way the S4QL is a world class diesel engine and there are none better. One of the reasons LS uses them.

Asked this question to dealer today, he sad that that engine is now being made in house by LS in S. Korea. I would look at the engine plate if you are really interested but building that engine under contract in S. Korea at a new facility seems like a better deal to me.

That's right. Some of the Mitsubishi engines are built under license by LS in Korea... my impression (just an impression, mind you!) was that this has been the case for a while.

The 3 cylinders in the G series are an LS engine.
