just goes to show when your number is up its up.
A very bad way to go, after all our tractors are supposed to be our enjoyment.

on second thought I guess if your number is up and you got to go going out having fun is the way to go

Sad to say, but pretty common on the old tractors. The springs under the farmall seats are famous for breaking and dumping the operator.

A coworker told me just recently that his youngest brother was killed the same way years ago.....Horrible.

That old JD probably had one of those seats on a pole with a spring to cushion the ride and no backrest to prevent this type of accident. It's easy to get unseated from one of those.

My 1949 JD B has a starter and battery. The seat is mounted on the battery box and is a more modern type seat with a backrest so it's harder to get unseated.
